The KANSAS CITY JAMMERS are your band!
The Kansas City Jammers, an Ohio recording sensation from the ’70s, are jamming again!!! They first got together in the late 1960s, playing for years at Ohio Wesleyan, eventually scoring a regional hit with “Sing Me that Rock and Roll” in 1972 (#20 on the charts), and recording an album, “Got Good (if you get it.)” Great fun but, alas, they had to grow up. So they did.
Fast-forward 35 years and much to their amazement the album is a cult hit! – selling for as much as $250 on eBay. What???? Then, in 2007, Void Records offers them $2,000 to re-release the record on vinyl and compact disc. HUH??? And now they are putting together a “new” album of other old gems just dying to be heard. Nice!!!
But it’s not over! “Dick Gordon and the Story” then asks to interview them for his show on NPR! So they hit the airwaves. Sweet!
But wait! That’s not all! The Jammers have furthered the madness by reuniting and performing as a 10-piece band at Ohio Wesleyan on January 16, 2010, where they debuted their new song, “On the Cover of AARP,” a fun-loving, generation-correct, take on an old “Dr. Hook” classic.
A new song??? A Gig??? Whoa!!! Check it out!!!
